Guy Hannan Managing Director

Bachelor of Business (Management/Entrepreneurship) (James Cook University/ UQ)

Born and raised in North Queensland I did my undergraduate study in Business Management/Entrepreneurship at University of Queensland (UQ) and James Cook University (JCU), Townsville. Upon graduation in 2009 I was offered a Graduate Management position at Reece Plumbing and a short 10 months later I was promoted to Assistant manager and then Branch Manager. I have also held two (2) State Account Manager positions early in my career, one for an International Training Company, as well as an Independent Optical Lab. Having grown up in a family owned and operated independent Optometry practice, I know first hand the difficulties and challenges faced by business owners in the health and allied health sector. I strongly believe there should be an easier way for professionals to access assistance with their business, and help retain and up skill their staff. I have used these experiences, coupled with my formal studies to better educate and mentor business principals, professionals and staff into a more profitable and enjoyable future. I have found that it is more about guiding a business to find THEIR own culture, and using that to continually grow both internally and externally. I am passionate about working with businesses to improve people development, sales and operations, education, and strategic planning.

I am a member of the Australian Institute of Management (AIM), which (among other things), keeps me up to date on current business practices and strategies. Continually furthering my education and experience is a top priority for me, and since graduating from University, I have successfully attained my Cert IV in TAE (Training and Assessment) as well as a Certificate of Advanced DISC Personality and Behavioral Analysis. Currently, I am enrolled in a Diploma of Practice Management, commencing in March 2016.

Outside of business, I have represented Queensland Country in the Australian Hockey Championships and have toured Canada with the Australian Wanderers Hockey team. I have been involved with the Lifesaving community for most of my life, and have enjoyed success at the regular carnival competitions. While studying at University, I trained to be a Lifeguard and worked a regular roster for three years – it was a fantastic experience and the pay was good, which paid the bills for a ‘poor uni student’. I enjoy running, cycling, swimming and surfing, and am looking forward to getting back into Triathlons. A good game of golf never goes astray, as does a day out fishing. I have always aspired to a ‘healthy body means a healthy mind’ and this has always held me in good stead, both personally and professionally.
